Reno Bound

I’m heading out to Reno tomorrow for a few days for SC07. For the past few months a few of us have been working with POVRay to create files for groups of students to render out on supercomputer clusters that they have built for the conference, as part of a competition. Should be fun, and a little different than my last school trip.

Nathan

My younger brother, Nathan, was in town last week. Among other things, he was doing the interview portion of the application process to get into the school that I am currently attending. Hopefully, in a years time, he will be going there also.

font shots

I have a really bad addiction. And that is to fonts. I can spend hours going through and installing new fonts. Right now, I have about 500+ installed, with about an equal number backed up for safe keeping. For what, I’m not sure, because I really don’t end up using them all that much; more than some, less than others. But still, it’s a very comforting feeling for me to know that when I need it, when Lucida Grande is just not cutting it, that one specific font will be there for me.

It’s all really disgusting, really.

The Russian River

&Allie and Eric

I went to Russian River this weekend with a bunch of friends, and got incredibly sunburned. But a sunburn is a small price to pay for a really fun weekend canoeing and camping with friends. Read the rest of this entry »

The Great American Pastime

Last night marked my first trip to AT&T Park for a SF Giants game. (I have been doing a fair amount of SF firsts for me lately, it seems like) However, only in a ballpark in SF would you find wine and lobster for sale in the concession stands. I mean c’mon now people, this is baseball.

The Zoo

My friend Stephanie and I went on a little trip down to the San Francisco Zoo on Monday. Surprisingly, it was my first time down there. Despite the issues with San Francisco’s less-than-stellar public transportation, we had pretty enjoyable time there.

Zane

IMG_1762

My best friend Zane was just in town for a few days, doing sound and tour managing. It was really good to see him, and catch up. He lives in LA and tours for a good part of the year, so we don’t get to see each other as much as we’d like to. So having him in town for two days was a real treat.

Karen

My friend Karen was in town this weekend from New York. We went around town, including the SFMOMA, and saw the new Felix Schramm exhibit there, which I would highly recommend if you happen to be in SF between now and September 30. Also, today we trekked out to Bernal Heights, to MaggieMudd’s, to get Karen a vegan sundae (which was pretty damn good).

I am back again from across the pond. Unfortunately, I was not able to post anything while I was there because a) internet connections were few and far between and b) I had a total of about 10 minutes the entire trip to check my email, we were so busy. But, it was an amazing trip. Follow the link for a chronological breakdown.
